Corridor Overview
I-11 South is relatively new freeway infrastructure, connecting Henderson to Boulder City and providing a direct freeway link to Arizona that didn’t previously exist in this form. Locals use it primarily to reach Boulder City, Lake Mead, or US-93 heading toward Arizona. Newer roads carry their own risk profile: higher design speeds, longer sight distances that can encourage speeding, and a driver population still developing the local caution that comes from years of experience on a familiar corridor.
Notable Statistics & Trends
Only 2 fatalities across 1,551 crashes gives I-11 South one of the lowest fatality rates in the dataset at 0.13 per 100 crashes — the modern freeway design appears to be protecting lives. However, the hit-and-run count of 311 (20%) is concerning for a corridor where incidents at freeway speeds can leave disabled vehicles in dangerous positions. Crashes dropped from 616 in 2022 to 423 in 2023, then rebounded to 512 in 2024 — the improvement held partially but not fully.
